Two Rods Off
Genius is the activity which repairs the decays of things, whether wholly or partly of a material and finite kind. Nature, through all her kingdoms, insures herself. Nobody cares for planting the poor fungus: so she shakes down from the gills of one agaric countless spores, any one of which, being preserved, transmits new billions of spores to-morrow or next day. The new agaric of this hour has a chance which the old one had not. This atom of seed is thrown into a new place, not subject to the accidents which destroyed its parent two rods off. - Emerson (the Poet)
Two rods off
Entropy Increases
The whalethe dead letter clerk
the confidence man
and the ambiguitiesThese are the ages that repeat
What noise the ear makesWhat light the eyes
What silence the tongue speaks
There is but one revelationand it will burn the worldto its foundations

I like this poem.
BTW you have a very interesting screen name. What made you think of that?
Thanks again. Lost in symbols surfaced here http://pointspaceslash.blogspot.com/2007/11/we-are-lost-in-symbols-they-speak-on.html
I started as StonedJwaysbyKways but could only get part way throught the alphabet:) Semiotics, etc. tear away the veil of the autohypnosis of speech.
